Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am out-of network with insurance companies at this time. Because of this, I am able to carry a smaller caseload and dedicate more time to each individual client. Benefits of seeing an out of network provider can be found here.

  • I offer a complimentary intro phone call to determine whether we will be a good fit to work together. The initial session fee is $175 and will take 60+ minutes to complete. Ongoing sessions for established clients are $150.

You can call your insurance company to determine whether you have out-of-network benefits. If you do, I can provide you with a Superbill for each session that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

  • I am direct, curious and invested in you. I will be a good fit for you if you would like to get to the root of what is going on. While I offer resources such as coping skills and mindfulness techniques to treat symptoms, I am more invested in helping you heal the cause rather than just alleviate any particular symptom. My style is deeply compassionate and also very direct. I believe the best feedback is given honestly and in the moment. You will grow when you are seen, validated and challenged to the be the most honest version of yourself.

  • Therapy is an investment of time and money. You will ultimately get out of it what you put into it. People choose to invest in different things from external appearance, leisure and material items and these investments often don’t make them healthier or happier. Therapy, on the other hand, has the potential to improve the way you feel, teaches you to experience true contentment and leads to better health outcomes. Check out this Forbes article about reasons to give therapy a try (its an oldie but goodie).

  • You are provided a one-time link via text message or email. At the time of our session you simply click the link, enter your name and we are connected.

  • Telehealth is certainly different than in person sessions, but the overwhelming opinion I have heard has been that it’s not as different as people thought it would be. I originally switched to Telehealth because of COVID-19 but have elected to keep Telehealth as an option for other reasons as well. For busy professionals it offers the flexibility of meeting at times outside of traditional office hours, it limits time commuting and offers added discretion. For all the research nerds like me out there this is what the outcomes look like for Telehealth.

  • You can fill out the contact form. Or pretend like it is 1995 and just call me. Either way, I will get back to you within 48 hours to schedule a brief phone call. During this time we will discuss your concerns and needs and determine whether we will be a good fit working together. For what to expect during an initial call with a therapist check out this article. If you choose to move forward we will schedule an appointment. If for any reason it seems like it may not be a good fit and you so choose, I will work to refer you to a different provider.

  • I will accept you as a client only if I truly feel I can help you. Not every provider can specialize in every type of case and some case complications require a higher level of care than individual therapy. In these circumstances I will refer you to a trusted colleague or help you research additional support options.

  • Because I am a specialist, I see clients in a wider geographic area and sometimes cannot accommodate specific requests to meet. On a case-by-case basis for clients in Southern California I offer in person sessions. For clients on the East Coast I offer in-person sessions quarterly.

  • When you become a client you will complete paperwork and be given access to the client portal. This paperwork will include some initial measures for mood and anxiety disorders that I will review before our first meeting. During our first meeting I will listen closely to what you have been experiencing and what you hope to talk about in our sessions. I will also ask you questions relevant to our work including those about your history, strengths, challenges and what your daily life looks like.

  • I often connect with psychiatrists for medication management, but also will connect with other behavioral health professionals, primary care physicians and nutritionists. Of course, if you need to enter a higher level of care or go to addiction rehabilitation I will be closely involved in this process.

  • I offer Telehealth sessions through a HIPPA secure platform. All data associated with your medical record is encrypted and stored securely. The ethics of my profession hold confidentiality in the highest regard.
